Professional chef
After studying Western cuisine at a culinary school, I honed my skills for seven years at a Michelin one-star restaurant in Tokyo.
My lessons, which emphasize “the beauty of restaurant-quality dishes and the practicality of home cooking,” are highly regarded. I focus on creative plating, key flavor techniques, and clear, theory-based explanations—helping students learn enjoyably and effectively.
I have been teaching as an instructor at Sorisso for over 10 years.

“Great fun, instruction, and delicious. Lesson was in Japanese and fluent English. Three separate dietary restrictions were accommodated. Recipe book and commemorative photo also provided. Great ambiance.”— David E.Google review
“This was an insanely awesome experience! Everyone was very nice, spoke English impeccably, and was so encouraging. I successfully made Omurice for the first time — and the egg omelette didn’t break open on me! I had a great time and will definitely book another class next time I am in Tokyo.”— Richard B.byfood
“Chef Ayumi and Chef Akiko organized an extremely memorable and successful/tasty gyoza-making event for my spouse and me. This was a major highlight for our time in Tokyo. Their instruction was exceptional, as they were patient with novice and advanced kitchen operators alike. … We will definitely return for another of these classes with Sorisso our next time in Tokyo!”— Robert H.Google review
“It was enlightening. The cooking class was superb. We loved making the ramen noodles by hand. And the other dishes were explained clearly so I know I can make them at home. The best part for me was going to the supermarket. Getting advice on what to get and what to buy is something I can’t learn on my own as a tourist.”— Jade (New Zealand)GetYourGuide
“I recently attended an onigiri and tamagoyaki class, and it was a fantastic experience! … The staff were incredibly friendly and spoke excellent English, making the session smooth and enjoyable. With only three people in the class, it felt wonderfully personal, and we got plenty of individual attention.”— Chaz (United Kingdom)GetYourGuide
“We had an amazing time making Onigiri and Tamagoyaki with the team at Sorisso! The atmosphere was friendly and encouraging and the instructions couldn’t have been clearer.”— Alexander (Germany)GetYourGuide
